Posted on Updated on

Professor Jean Rankin, one of our professors of Maternal Child and Family Health, was recently recognised for her leadership, valued contributions and service as Director on the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).

Jean was presented with a plaque to acknowledge her valued contribution last month at the Board meeting in Nagoya, Japan. The IBLCE has over 27,000 certificated lactation consultants in 205 countries worldwide.

Although Jean is stepping down from the role of Director, she will remain on the international committees for Ethics and Discipline and Research. She said: “I am delighted to be involved in setting up and implementing the new research committee supported with recurring funding of $450,000 every three years. The Board of Directors recently approved this funding to support research studies with a particular focus in protecting breastfeeding in developing countries where maternal and infant mortality is high.”
