Cate O’Kane, a lecturer in Adult Nursing, recently presented at the 9th International Scientific Conference in Bled, Slovenia on Thursday 9th June 2016.
The presentation was in relation to a research study on catheter use in community settings. This study was led by Dr Gordie Mackay, Dr Angela Kydd and Dr Teresa Macintosh and was conducted in partnership with NHS West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care and the Queen’s Nursing Instutute for Scotland (QNIS). Cate was lucky enough to present the findings on the educational component of this study which resulted in the creation of an educational resource for patients and carers in the community living with a catheter.
This resource will now be piloted in West Dunbartonshire with the results possibly available at the end of June 2016. The Slovenians have asked our reserach team to return next year to present the results of their evaluation.
