On Thursday 15th December, Moyra and Michelle from Women’s Aid South Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire came to collect the generous donations made by the by staff of our school. The charity aims to support and empower women, children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse. They provide a range of needs led services including refuge accommodation, support and information, which ensures improved outcomes for those dealing with abuse. Their services are based on listening to women, children, young people and partner agencies.
Staff from the school donated a huge supply of hygiene products and a generous collection of toys and gifts for children age 0-16 were also donated for women and children who will be spending Christmas in a refuge.
Along with the donations, a cheque for £300 was given to the charity from the money donated from the “Hello my name is…” badges.
Thank you to everyone involved in donating money and goods and those who helped packing the donations up on the day. Christmas can be an especially difficult time and any support we can give is invaluable in making things less lonely and a bit brighter.
