UWS already articulates the most FE students amongst Scottish universities and this partnership will ensure that both institutions continue to work together to provide the best opportunities for learners to progress to degree-level study and graduate employment.

This agreement covers learner pathways in a wide range of subjects including Accounting, Business, Integrated Health and Social Care, Web Development and Biomedical Science that exist from the College’s HN courses to the University’s degrees, in addition to their jointly-delivered degree in Childhood Studies. It also ensures that College students will continue to be able to obtain Associate Student status with UWS, giving them access to a wide range of University student services including learning technology, sports facilities and the Library within the newly redeveloped Student Hub.

Professor Craig Mahoney, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of UWS, said: “The University has a strong commitment to articulation of FE students and West College Scotland plays a hugely important role in the region.  We are therefore delighted to build on our already close relationship to establish this formal partnership, which will provide even greater options for people in Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and West Dunbartonshire to pursue university study to develop their skills and enhance their opportunities.”

Audrey Cumberford, Principal of West College Scotland, said: “As Scotland’s largest college, West College Scotland is an important player in the educational landscape of this part of the country.  As such, we are delighted to further strengthen our relationship with UWS through this partnership agreement. Our close association with the University already makes us an attractive destination for local people and I am convinced this agreement will give them, even more, progression opportunities.”
