The BA (Hons) Integrated Health and Social Care programme welcomed Tommy Whitelaw to the 2nd Year Person-centredness class yesterday.
Tommy from Glasgow had been a full-time carer for his mother who has vascular dementia for the last 5 years of her life and passed away in September 2012. As a result, Tommy has become a campaigner, raising awareness of the issues and challenges faced with those coping with Dementia and those caring for those with Dementia.
This was a wonderful, inspirational talk which fitted perfectly with the learning that is currently taking place within the module and one that none of the class will ever forget, along with the pledges we made.A huge thank you to Tommy and we look forward to meeting him again in the future.
You can listen to Tommy talking about his experiences below.
